Micro Directions.....

Till Kollegal, you may follow the map as given in the website.

The entry into Kollegal is identified by an Indian Oil petrol bunk that comes on the right hand side. Immediately after this, turn left (bye-pass). If you go straight it will enter the town.

This road will lead to a T-junction - turn left. The right will lead to the market.

Proceed straight (there will be 2 successive water bodies on the right and the road winds)You will reach a small village - keep going straight. After this village the road will fork - take the right turn (at the corner you will find a board for "Wildlife Management"). The other road is very circuitous and is the general bus route.

Keep going along this road for a long while till you reach a village called "Lokkenahalli" (Used to be one of Veerappan's provision points)

Keep going ahead - the road will start climbing gradually from here on. On the right you will see the shola forests in the distant hills. You will cross some wadi's over the streams, you will also see some Tibetian villages on the right with their prayer flags. If you are a keen observer you can also see the two Tibetian monasteries in the distance, one of which was visited by the Dalai Lama himself! (pix in the website)

You will reach the Tibetian area called "Odeyarpalaya" Drive through - the Farm is approx 16 kms from here.

You will pass a village called "Bailur" where the Karnataka Forest Check-post is located. The barricade will be down and so you will have to stop. You will be asked from where you are coming and where you are going and maybe when you will return.

Tell him you are going to "Germalam" - that's the postal location of the Wild Valley Farm. You may also be asked to enter the number of the bus.

Drive on - you will cross some small hamlets and keep going straight (there are some forks along the way) The drive will take you through the forest periphery and then you will reach the Tamil Nadu Forest Check-post which is usually open.

As soon as you cross this barricade take the left turn which has another smaller barricade that will be closed. This is a narrow forest road. Tell the forest Guard that you are going to "Daniel's Farm". He will open the smaller barricade and from here the Farm is 5 kms.

Keep driving, you will pass two villages and the road will undulate and wind. After the second village, there will be two relatively sharp turns. After the second turn, you will see the board of the "Wild Valley Farm".

PS: - These directions are as described by Mr. Andrew.
